Belt & Sword Region in Orion
The Alnitak region in Orion's Belt; NGC2024, the Flame Nebula below Alnitak; B33, the
Horsehead Nebula to the right; NGC2023 Nebula in between the two. LRGB composite
80:25:25:25 of 5min exposures & 10:5:5:5 of 30sec exposures through the ED80 at 600mm
B33 (Horsehead Nebula) LRGB exposure: 75:30:30:30 through
the mewlon at 3000mm (possibly a bit too much of a close-up)
This photo of the Orion nebula, M42/M43, and the Running Man nebula, NGC1977 was taken in mid
December 2006 with the SXV-H9, Astronomiks LRGB filters in a TrueTech filter wheel on the ED80 with a
Lumicon focal reducer at f/5.3. Two sets of exposures were used to allow more detail in the bright
region of M42/M43 (in and around the trapezium) to be displayed. The exposure info is:

Long exposure consists of Lum - 33 X 3min, R&G each 28 X 1 1/2min (2X2), B - 28 X 2min (2X2)

Short exposure consists of lum - 15 X 32sec, R&G each 16 X 16sec (2X2), B - 16 X 21sec (2X2)
